About.com is looking for Web Guides. All Guides share a portion of 30% of About.com's net ad revenues. Guide compensation is paid out based on traffic to your site as a percentage of total traffic on the About.com network of sites. Guides earn a minimum of $100 a month as a guarantee against revenue share. In addition, a percentage of About.com's net ad revenues are set aside in a bonus pool that is paid out to Guides semi-annually.
About.com is currently looking for Guides for a variety of topics including Sports and Recreating for Kids, Step-Parenting, Home Improvement, Home Furnishing, African-American Literature, Accounting, and many others including Locality Guides such as Cedar Rapids, Omaha, Cleveland, Daytona Beach and hundreds of others.
If you're accepted, you'll work through an intensive three-week virtual training program called Orientation. They provide the training materials, instructions and feedback to help prepare your site for launch.
